The highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 between India and Australia will get underway from November 22. India and Australia will be squaring off in a five-match Test series for the first time since 1991-92.
These teams share historic rivalry and have produced some of the finest moments in the history of Test cricket.
The rivalry dates back to 1947-48 when India first toured Australia for five Tests. India have won four BGT in a row since 2016-17 that included back-to-back series wins on Australian soil.
The five-match Test series starts in Perth before a warm-up fixture between India A and Prime Minister's XI at the Manuka Oval. The series resumes in Adelaide which will host a day-night contest. The third Test will be held at The Gabba in Brisbane – the venue of India's famous win from the last tour. Melbourne Cricket Ground will play host to the penultimate Test while the tour concludes at Sydney Cricket Ground.
India are eying a hat-trick of Test series wins Down Under. On the other hand, Australia are itching for reclaiming the BGT having last laid their hands on the trophy in 2014-15.
These two teams last squared off in a Test during the final of ICC World Test Championship in 2023 when Australia became the champions.
The result of the India vs Australia Test series could go a long way in deciding if India successfully qualify for the final of the WTC for the third time in a row on their own.
