Marcus & Millichap Names Stein as L.A. Regional Manager

Stephen D. Stein has been named the regional manager of the Los Angeles office of Marcus & Millichap, a real estate investment brokerage. Stein was previously regional manager in the Long Beach office. He joined the firm in 1990.

* David Nelson has been named to the newly created position of vice president of strategic planning for the Playa Vista development near Marina del Rey. Nelson, formerly vice president of commercial land development, headed the firm’s negotiations with DreamWorks SKG, the entertainment company that will locate its headquarters and main studio at Playa Vista.

Nelson, 45, will be in charge of directing planning and approval efforts for the second phase of the 1,087-acre site. Formerly, he was senior development manager for Walt Disney Imagineering.

* Dana R. Ashton has been hired by retail developer Regent Properties as chief financial officer. Ashton has previously worked for a decade at Lowe Enterprises, a real estate investment firm, where he was vice president of finance and controller for the commercial property and resort development divisions.

* Warnick & Co., a Phoenix-based lodgings consulting firm, selected Tom Morone to head its new L.A. office. Morone, a principal and managing director, was vice president and manager of Collier’s International Hotel Realty, where he was responsible for hotel brokerage services in the firm’s L.A. office.

* The appraisal team of Charles J. Reinagel, Andrew Harper and R. Alex Saunders have joined the downtown Los Angeles office of Cushman & Wakefield. The trio--formerly with CB Richard Ellis--will focus on commercial properties and assist in litigation in the West.
